Short answers to “how do I…”. Things marked New arrived in 0.6.0, the release that added the X4 Pro.

Install and update

Put RetroInk on an X3 or X4. Download firmware-x3-x4-v*.bin from the Releases page and use the web flash tool or an SD card update.
Put RetroInk on an X4 Pro. New Download firmware-x4-pro-v*.bin and follow the Pro steps. Back up the stock firmware first.
Update later. On an X3 or X4, Settings > System > Check for Updates. The Pro does the same: each release carries both files and the reader picks its own.

Open the reader menu. X3/X4: press Select in a book. X4 Pro New: swipe up from the page, or hold the Home key.
Turn pages. X3/X4: the side rocker or front buttons. X4 Pro New: tap the right side of the page or swipe left; tap the left third or swipe right to go back.
Highlight a passage on the Pro. New Hold a word for half a second, drag to the end of the passage, and lift. It is saved as a clipping, and sent to Obsidian if you have that set up.
Look up a word on the Pro. New Hold the word and let go without dragging.
Change the font size. Reader menu > Font. On the Pro you can also pinch.

Change the desktop pattern. Settings > Display > Desktop Pattern.
Turn something on or off. On/off settings are a rocker marked O | I. The pressed half is the state: I pressed is on, O pressed is off. New
Change the sleep screen. Settings > Display > Sleep Screen > Wallpaper. Browse with a live preview, and pick one.

Move many files at once. In the web file manager (File Transfer), tick the files, press Move Selected, and choose the destination once.
Switch shelves. The Up/Down keys on X3/X4. On the Pro, the two edge keys, or tap the left or right part of the shelf banner. New
Open a book’s actions. Hold the book on the Pro, or press Select on X3/X4.

Start a focus session. Desk Accessories > Focus Session. Set the length with the step buttons (on the Pro) or Left and Right (X3/X4; hold to run), then tap Start Focus. The length and the redraw setting are on the same screen. New

Sync stats between two readers. File Transfer > Sync Stats on both, then Sync on one. On the Pro you can also open the quick panel, tap Sync, and choose Sync Stats. New
Know what it syncs. Only the all-time totals: sessions, time, pages and finished books. The Reading Year calendar and per-book stats stay on the reader that recorded them.

See your calendar on the reader. Set up Calendar Sync, then open Desk Accessories > Desk Calendar.
Open a day with all its events. Tap the day, then on the Pro tap the events listed under the month. New
Send highlights to Obsidian. See Obsidian Clipping Sync.

Open the quick panel. Swipe down from the top edge.
Change brightness or warmth. Drag the square on the scroll bar, or tap an arrow.
Turn the light off. Press the O side of the rocker.

Play Minesweeper (X4 Pro). New Desk Accessories > Minesweeper. Tap to dig. Press Flag to make taps plant flags, and Dig to go back. Menu has New Game.
Play the Puzzle. Desk Accessories > Puzzle. Tap a tile next to the gap.
Play Marble Maze (X3). Desk Accessories > Marble Maze. Tilt the reader.
